In January 2014, Forbes.com published a list of the Top 10 Family Owned Businesses in Africa and the Ramco Group was amongst them. This was an unexpected honor for the Group, particularly in the context of an Africa-wide competition.
A panel of eight judges from across Africa helped to identify African companies with annual revenues of $50 million or more. These companies must be led by the second generation or subsequent to the founder, and the family must control at least 30 percent of the voting rights.
This award is recognition of a vision that started back in 1948 and has been building for the past 65 years.
